Wine Group Two go al fresco
There were 12 Wine Group Two members present who enjoyed appreciation of wine with a Harvest Supper. The theme was to taste two wines with the same food and see which one was preferred or was better matched.
Aperitifs were served with La Belle Angèle rosé followed by Salmon en Croûte with Goldwater Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2016 and Viré-Cleesé Vieilles (Chardonnay) 2017. The Goldwater got the majority vote.
Rustic beef casserole was paired with Marquis de Belleville Bordeaux Supérieur 2014 and Definition Malbec 2017. The Definition was thought the best by far.
Rioja Reserva Viña Eguía 2013 was the choice for cheese and Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc Maule Valley Chile complemented the Apple crumble and cream.
The downside of the evening was a wine-based quiz, when the wine buffs showed their knowledge (or lack of) of the Nobel grape!
